Plan, shoot and edit a short film
Video is the most powerful communication medium of your generation. Learn to use it.
"You have one minute to make someone understand why AI matters. Go." Students get 60 seconds to plan a verbal explanation. Then discuss: how do professionals do this? Enter: video production.
Students create a 30-60 second explainer video on one of: "How AI works for beginners", "Why digital literacy matters", "How to spot a phishing email". Process: (1) Storyboard (10 mins). (2) Record using device camera (10 mins). (3) Edit with captions in CapCut or Canva (18 mins). Export MP4 and upload to shared class folder.
Watch 3 videos as a class. One piece of specific praise for each. Focus on: was the message clear? Did they use visuals well?
AI tools can generate automatic captions (Clipchamp, CapCut) — but always review them, they make mistakes. AI can also generate B-roll images.

Watch your video back in 24 hours. Write 3 things you'd improve if you could reshoot it. What did you learn about video production?
Pre-made storyboard template with prompts for each shot
Create a second version for a different platform (e.g. portrait for TikTok/Instagram vs. landscape for YouTube) and compare the experience.
Book phones/tablets for recording. Students can use school devices or personal phones (check policy). Ensure you have a quiet space for recording — even a corridor works.
